What You Need To Know To Get The Most Out Of Your Home Buying Or Selling Experience

On March 2, the Denver MLS (called Metrolist) and the Boulder MLS (called Ires) parted ways.  In case you’re not familiar with the term, the MLS or Multiple Listing Service, is the way Realtors are able to list and view homes for sale.  What does this mean for you?  If your home is listed by a Denver MLS agent, then only other Denver MLS agents will see your home.  Before, even if an agent only belonged to one, they still could see listings in the other.  But now, in order to see or list homes in the Boulder/Weld County area, agents must now pay to belong to that area as well.   For buyers, you may miss out on your dream home if your agent is part of only one MLS.  For sellers, not as many people will see your home listed for sale unless your agent has the dual subscription.  Many agents are not particularly thrilled with this separation, because there are now two fees, and the systems operate differently.
